Gender And Inequality in East Asia (GAIEA)
.
My second book project, titled GAIEA (Gender and Inequality in East Asia), examines the sources of variation in gender equality in East Asia. Focusing on three democratic countries - Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, I ask why Asian countries show different levels of public perceptions and institutional tolerance on gender equality. Analyzing public opinion surveys, archival data and interviews, this project seeks to uncover the institutional dynamics of gender equality in East Asia. To kick off the project, I conducted field research in Taiwan in 2021. Project GAIEA is supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea and Taiwan Fellowship.
